Rosette Sword
As a foreground or mid-ground plant, the Rosette Sword (Echinodorus parviflorus), a more compact sword, is lovely. They differ greatly from most other swords in that they have bright green leaves with a texture like hammered metal. One of the toughest sword varieties, it typically grows to a height of 1.5 to 6 inches. It is still shorter in height in poor lighting.
"Sword Plants" are marsh or bog plants that are mostly found in the tropical western hemisphere (North, South, and Central America, as well as several islands in the area). They are members of the genus Echinodorus. While there are only about 3 species recognized by science, many species are crossed and propagated by gardeners and nurseries to produce a wide variety of variations and hybrids.
Swords are highly adapted to submerged life in the aquarium, even though they may grow emerged in the wild (with their leaves out of the water). While submerged plants will reproduce by sending out runners to generate new plants, emerged plants produce blooms. To survive, most swords require bright lighting. Iron and CO2 supplements, as well as a substrate rich in nutrients, are also beneficial to them, especially in tanks with dense plant life.
Excellent plant for both novice and seasoned aquarists
gives your aquarium a realistic planted appearance. This plant is great for planting in the middle or foreground. Fish adore it, and some species utilize it to lay eggs.
