Amazon Frogbit
Amazon Frogbit – Floating Aquarium Plant
Amazon Frogbit (Limnobium laevigatum) is a beautiful and easy-to-grow floating aquarium plant featuring smooth, round to oval green leaves and long, flowing roots that hang beneath the water’s surface. Its dramatic root system creates a natural look while providing excellent shelter and grazing areas for shrimp, fry, bettas, and other small fish.
Amazon Frogbit is also an excellent nutrient absorber. Its fast growth helps remove excess nitrates and other nutrients from the water, which can help with overall water quality and algae control. It’s a great choice for planted aquariums, shrimp tanks, breeding tanks, betta setups, and ponds.

Care Tips
Amazon Frogbit prefers relatively calm water with minimal surface agitation. Try to keep the tops of the leaves dry, as constant splashing or submerging the leaves can cause them to yellow or deteriorate. Liquid fertilizers can encourage faster growth and longer, healthier roots.
Under good conditions, Frogbit can reproduce quickly and eventually cover a large portion of the water’s surface. Thin it regularly to maintain good gas exchange and allow enough light to reach plants below.
Special Note: The long roots are one of Frogbit’s standout features and can be trimmed if they become too long for your aquarium. Trimming the roots will not harm a healthy plant.
