Glosso (common name)

Glossostigma Elantinoides is a New Zealand native low-growing aquatic plant. It's a great foreground plant that may grow into a dense carpet of green foliage if given enough light and nutrition. The leaves are tiny and circular, with a lovely bright green hue that will complement any neutral toned substrate.

High illumination and Co2 injection are required to keep this plant from overgrowing. Vertically rising weak stalks indicate a lack of lighting, whilst yellowing leaves indicate a nutritional shortage. A deficiency of Co2 can also be indicated by thin leaves. When grown properly, this plant can grow swiftly and requires frequent trimming.

In dry start aquariums and Wabi Kusa, this plant can grow submerged or emersed. This plant might be difficult to keep rooted in the substrate because it is small and has little roots. Dry start can help in this scenario by giving the roots time to attach into the substrate before flooding the tank.
