Purple Aflame Sword (Echinodorus sp.) is a striking sword plant known for its long, flame-shaped leaves that develop deep green to reddish-purple tones under good lighting. New growth often shows brighter red or bronze hues, giving the plant a dramatic, centerpiece look. It grows tall and full, making it ideal for background placement in medium to large aquariums or as a standout specimen in open layouts.

 

Care & Requirements: Easy to moderate care. Prefers moderate to high lighting to bring out its best coloration. Grows best in nutrient-rich substrate and benefits greatly from root tabs. CO₂ is not required but will increase growth speed and color intensity. Water parameters are flexible; ideal temperature 72–82°F, pH 6.0–7.5. Regular pruning of older outer leaves encourages healthy new growth. This plant is hardy, beginner-friendly, and compatible with most community tanks.
