Schismatoglottis prietoi
A rare aquatic aroid native to the Philippines, Schismatoglottis prietoi is one of the few species in its genus that can live fully submerged. It forms lush, low-growing clusters of glossy green leaves, making it perfect for foreground or midground placement in aquariums and paludariums.
Care:
- Lighting: Low to medium; avoid intense light.
- Temperature: 68–82°F (20–28°C).
- pH: 6.0–8.0; soft to moderately hard water.
- CO₂: Not required but promotes faster growth.
- Substrate: Sand, gravel, or aquasoil. Keep rhizome above substrate to prevent rot.
- Flow: Gentle to moderate water movement preferred.
- Propagation: By division or runners.
- Fertilizer: Benefits from light liquid or root feeding.
Tips:
Allow time to acclimate—growth starts slow but becomes steady once established. Great for nano tanks or natural aquascapes. Works well alongside Anubias, Bucephalandra, and Cryptocoryne species
