Hemianthus Micranthemoides AKA Pearl Weed

$6
Common Name: Pearlweed and Pearl Grass

A low-growing, bright green stem plant called pearlweed is ideal for beginners. It is an adaptable plant that works well in the foreground, middleground, and background. It will maintain a low growth rate and spread runners out horizontally with regular pruning. It can develop vertically as a backdrop plant if left untrimmed. If you have a specific idea for how the plant will fit into your aquascape, you must plan accordingly because the shape and growth of the plant depends on the environment. If your tank lacks foreground coverage, this plant, which resembles other carpeting plants in appearance, may be a low-maintenance solution.

With moderate light and CO2 levels of 6 to 14 ppm, this plant thrives. However, a nutrient-rich substrate and a thriving fish colony can usually provide pearlweed with all the nutrition it requires. Use high light and CO2 for extremely dense growth. While growth in bright light will be bushy, development in moderate light will be looser and upward-facing. Once established, pearlweed needs to be clipped since, if not controlled, it can become troublesome. This plant can withstand heavy pruning, so if you like, you may let it get big and dense and then shape it afterwards.

Trim the stem ends before grouping several together and burying them in the substrate to start new plants. Ensure that no additional greenery encloses them.
