Littorella Uniflora

$5

A readily recognizable low-growing aquatic plant, Littorella Uniflora, also referred to as "Shoreweed," can be seen growing throughout freshwater shorelines in Europe, from Iceland to the Black Sea. It works well as a foreground plant or as a grass in an aquarium's foreground or centre. It tolerates low light levels and develops slowly. To achieve a grass-like, lawn effect in the front, you should increase the light intensity because weaker light tends to lengthen the leaves.

The rosette will immediately send forth runners if each one is placed 1 inch apart. After about two months, they will produce a carpet or lawn of thick, meaty leaves that reach heights of 1.2-2" and widths of.04-.12" each. The leaves can fill in effectively as a lawn if plantings are spaced about an inch apart.

As previously indicated, this plant thrives in low light and low CO2 environments. It can develop emersed or submerged.
