AMANO SHRIMP (CARE OVERVIEW)
Amano shrimp (Caridina multidentata) are excellent algae eaters and a favorite in planted aquariums. They’re hardy, active, and great for keeping tanks clean, but they do not breed in freshwater.

- GH: 5–10 | KH: 2–6
- Water Type: Stable, well-cycled freshwater
DIET
- Algae and biofilm (great hair algae eaters)
- Supplement with sinking shrimp foods, wafers, or blanched veggies
- Known to be bold feeders
TANK SETUP
- Planted tanks preferred
- Hiding spots for molting
- Gentle filtration (sponge or low-flow filters)
BREEDING
- Breed in freshwater but larvae require brackish → saltwater to survive
- Not practical for most home aquariums
