Cyperus Helferi

$6

The genus Cyperus, commonly known as papyrus sedges, comprises approximately 900 species. Among them are the African papyrus (Cyperus papyrus) and the well-known houseplant C. alternifolius. However, only a few Cyperus species can truly thrive in submerged environments, including Cyperus helferi. This aquatic plant can be found both submerged and emersed in Thailand, thriving in stagnant and slow-moving waters.

Cyperus helferi is relatively easy to cultivate, as it can tolerate a relatively long adaptation period. It prefers ample light, ideally between 0.5 and 1 watt per liter. While CO2 fertilization is not mandatory, adding CO2 can significantly enhance its growth. This plant prefers cooler water temperatures, so a maximum of 26 °C is ideal for optimal growth. A well-balanced supply of nitrate, phosphate, potassium, and micronutrients further supports its growth and contributes to its overall health.
