Rotala Macrandra is the common name for this plant.
The Rotala Macrandra, often known as the Giant Rotala, is a stunning red shrub native to Asia.
Rotala is a demanding species that requires high-intensity lights, no shade, and high Co2 injection. Individual stems must be placed far enough apart to allow adequate light to reach the bottom leaves. In optimal conditions, the plant grows at a rate of up to 4" each week once established. To achieve a small red hue, make sure this Rotala is high in phosphates (1.5 - 2.0 ppm) and low in nitrate. (10ppm or below.) A lack of either of these nutrients will result in stunted growth or discolored leaves.
