Cryptocoryne 'Tropica'
$6
Common Name: Water Trumpet, Crypt Tropica
A variety of the well-known cryptocoryne, Crypt Wendtii, is called Cryptocoryne Tropica. When grown submerged, this well-liked Crypt will have long, crinkled leaves in shades of green, orange, and golden. Photos demonstrate how submerged and emersed growing plants differ. It can be cultivated both submerged and emerged, and it grows at a moderate rate like other Crypts. Cryptocoryne requires little maintenance and is similar to other low-light aquatic plant species as Anubias, Bucephalandra, and others.
The runners that crypts use to spread themselves can be clipped and replanted into the substrate if so desired. Plant separate stems about 1 inch apart for adequate coverage. Water trumpets can be planted in groups as long as all of the roots have access to the substrate's nutrients.
