Echinodorus Osiris Rubra AKA Melon Sword

$0

Among the sword family, Echinodorus Osiris is a well-liked option. The plant grows as a rosette and has broad, elongated leaves. The leaves will take on a lovely crimson hue when grown in perfect conditions, such as strong light and CO2 infusion. Echinodorus Osiris is often planted in the background because of its size, and it will beautifully fill any space in the tank.

Due to their heavy root consumption, melon swords should be planted in a rich aquarium substrate, like UNS ControSoil. If the plant gets really big, you can add more root tabs. Sword plants are resilient and, given enough time, can adjust to a variety of growth environments. Trip any leaves that are defective or damaged in order to encourage the growth of new leaves. By either splitting at the base or sending out a flower stalk with runners, Melon Swords will naturally spread. Once mature, these runners and divisions can be divided and planted individually.
