Ludwigia Cuba

$6

Common Name: Ludwigia de Cuba

The Cuban Ludwigia is a lovely and huge stem plant that grows in swampy parts of the Isle of Youth, a small island off the coast of Cuba. Its leaves will be oval in shape and green if it grows above the waterline. When submerged, the leaves become long and thin, with a marble pattern of red and orange. The Cuban, like all Ludwigia types, produces a striking and enormous yellow flower.

The species grows diagonally rather than straight up, and its rapid development can cause it to dominate an aquarium. Trimming is ineffective, and you should always transplant the clipped shoots if you need to create a replacement plant.

Overall, if you have a large enough tank, the Cuban Ludwigia is a stunningly colored and huge plant that makes a fantastic accent in the tank's midground or background.
